Classroom Cleanout Essentials: Rags That Get Straight A’s

Once the students head home for summer break, it’s game time for the janitorial staff.

Classrooms need a deep, top-to-bottom clean before a new batch of learners walks through the door in the fall. From dusty bookshelves to smudged windows and mystery stains under desks, the summer cleaning checklist is no joke.

That’s why it pays to have the right rags on hand. At A&A Wiping Cloth, we help school districts, facility crews, and contractors get the job done with dependable, bulk-ready wiping cloths that match the task at hand. For classroom cleaning, these rags pass with flying colors—no repeats, no fluff, just results.

Recycled Color Flannel – Soft and Strong for Everyday Surfaces

Looking for something soft enough for surfaces like classroom chairs, desks, or cubby shelves—but tough enough to scrub off stuck-on tape residue or pencil marks? Recycled Color Flannel hits the sweet spot.

Perfect for:

  • Wiping down student desks and bookshelves
  • Cleaning vinyl seating or cubby storage
  • General-use wipe-downs with gentle cleaners

Why it earns an A: Flannel is soft to the touch but has enough grab to handle residue and surface buildup without scratching finishes.

Recycled Thermal Blanket Rags – For Heavy Dust and Deep Cleaning

Sometimes you find dust bunnies the size of actual bunnies in corners of classrooms that haven’t been touched in months. That’s when you need the bulk, absorbency, and durability of Recycled Thermal Blanket rags. These rags, made from recycled cotton/poly blankets, are large, absorbent, and great for high-dust or high-moisture situations.

Perfect for:

  • Dusting baseboards and crown molding
  • Cleaning under and behind desks or storage units
  • Mopping up large liquid messes or cleaning supply rooms

Why it earns an A: Their size and thickness make them a top pick for the dirtiest, most labor-intensive jobs on the classroom checklist.

What is Lint Free or Low Lint?

What is the big deal with lint free wiping rags?

What is the big deal with lint free wiping rags?

Well first off, most types of rags produce some type of lint that is left behind when being used. If you are cleaning glass, windows, mirrors, automobiles or electronics you will want as little lint as possible. There is nothing like cleaning a window and seeing lint all over it once you finish. That’s just not right! To get the best results with a wiping rag in these situations you want to use a low lint rag.

What exactly is Lint?

Lint is a small, fine fiber that detaches from the surface of cloth and yarn. With cotton a tighter weave means less lint but also means less softness. Typically the softer the item the more lint you will see. A lint free cloth is a special type of cleaning cloth that does not give up any fluff or lint when being used.

Cleaning Electronics with Lint Free Rags

It is very important when cleaning electronics to use a low lint cloth. Being free of lint means the cloth is less likely to build up a charge that can possibly harm electronic equipment. There is a concept called ESD where lint and fluff can gain an electric charge.

Cleaning Tip for Lint Free Rags

If you wish to keep your wiping rags to having low lint you need to wash them correctly. Don’t wash with other items that have lint such as bath towels because they will drop lint in the wash.
