Quarantine Painting Projects

With all the time at home due to the virus of the century, it might be a good time to break out those wiping rags and start on a few new home quarantine painting projects.

We are going to focus on at home painting projects, what to do, how to do it and what you will need. The thing is, just go for it! It’s relatively easy, inexpensive, and you can always paint over it if it’s a huge fail. Since we are a wiping cloth company we will of course cover the rags you need but also some other supplies and tips.

First let’s cover the basics of getting your quarantine painting projects started:

Choose a paint color:

Start by narrowing down your color and then you can look at different shades within that color range.

We like Behr and Dunn-Edwards paint and most paint comes these days with a built in primer.

To decide on the amount of paint you will need, Dunn-Edwards has a rule to follow: rule of thumb is one gallon per 400 square feet. Count how many rooms and roughly how large they are. It’s better to have a little too much as you can always use the extra paint for touch ups and it’s a hassle when you run out.

Prep the room or rooms:

Apply painters tape to all the trim, remove outlet and light switch covers and apply painters tape to protect outlets and switches from paint drips. Put out a nice big drop cloth so you don’t get paint on the floor.

Fill any holes with putty and sand down after dry.

Get ready to caulk:

Fill any gaps or cracks with caulk.

Choose the perfect rag for your quarantine painting project:

The rags that work best for painting projects are:

New White Knit

Recycled White Knit

White Cotton Napkins

New White Terry Bar Towels

White Flannel

White Washcloths

Other Quarantine Painting Project Supplies:

  • Paint
  • Paint roller
  • Paint roller extension pole
  • Drop cloths
  • Paint brushes
  • Paint tray
  • Sandpaper
  • Painter’s tape
  • Putty knife

Make sure to really mix the paint well and have proper ventilation in the room. Now get to work on your next few quarantine painting projects!
